Ferdinand’s Saar Dry Gin has 30 organic botanicals in the mix and a healthy dose of Schiefer Riesling wine, it’s a most unusual proposition, and one that got in way ahead of the Craft Gin trend.

Ferdinand’s Saar Gin is a really busy, fresh spirit with floral and grassy notes throughout, as well as fresh, sweet grapes. It’s unique and quite glorious, making for a super summery G&T. Cocktails fans should try it in a Martinez, though.

About this product

The botanicals for Ferdinand’s Saar Gin get a double dip – they’re added into neutral spirit and also stacked into the vapour chamber to let the lighter aromatics shine. After distillation, the spirit is cut down to bottling strength with Riesling.

Ferdinand’s Saar is crafted by Master Distiller Andreas Vallendar, at his Avadis Distillery in Wincheringen. He was almost certainly one of the early pioneers of the gin-wine hybrid, and by using wine, the first to do a liquid based post infusion.

The Avadis Distillery was founded by Andreas, Dorothee Zilliken, Denis Reinhardt and Erik Wimmers, four friends who got together to create products designed to be ‘aromatic reproductions’ or their home region.
