Glenfiddich’s 12 yo single malt is matured in American oak and European oak sherry casks for at least 12 years, its sweet and soft oak flavours are achieved by being mellowed in specially designed, uniquely sized oak marrying tuns for 9 months.
Founder of Glenfiddich distillery, William Grant, built his own distillery with the help of his nine children and a single stone mason. It took a year to build, with the first drop of spirit released from the still on Christmas Day 1887.
Located in Dufftown, Scotland, founder William Grant named the distillery Glenfiddich, which is Gaelic for Valley of the Deer. The distillery uses water from the same spring William did, the Robbie Dhu spring, and has done so since 1887.
