Mount Gay 1703 celebrates the foundation of the Barbados-based Mount Gay distillery, and it was created by Allen Smith, the master distiller.

On the nose, there's a refined harmony of fruity rich vanilla, banana, oaky and mocha notes. To taste, a delicious balance of raisin, spice and toast. Exceptional roundness with a long, delicate finish. One to savour neat.

About this product

A combination of column and double retort pot still rums are aged in ex-bourbon barrels. A careful selection of these (aged for between 10 and 30 years) and chosen and blended to make Mount Gay 1703.

John Sober purchased the Mount Gilboa Plantation in 1747 and charged friend Sir John Gay Alleyne to become its manager Having proved so effective at leading the company it was renamed in his honour after his death. Today it's owned by Remy Cointreau.

Mount Gay Rum is produced by Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd. of Barbados, the easternmost island of the West Indies. The oldest surviving deed for the company is from 1703, making Mount Gay Rum one of if not THE world's oldest commercial rum distillery.
