On the nose, it has a touch of grain, with cut grass and a malted sweetness. To taste, it's light and sweet with apple and pear at the fore, backed by smoke. Light tannins close the show.
Days is a mix of 8-10 year old whiskies that might otherwise go into its Coffey grain, Coffey malt, Miyagikyo single malt and Yoichi single malt bottlings.
Masataka Taketsuru is the founder of Nikka Whisky. He enrolled at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, becoming the first Japanese ever to study the art of whisky-making. Later he returned to Japan and produced the country's first single malt whisky.
In 1934 Masataka opened the Nikka Whisky Co distillery in the town of Yoichi. Later, his second distillery was located in foggy glen surrounded by mountains and at a junction of two clean rivers, by coincidence the name of the river was Nikkawa.
