In Japanese, Roku translates as the number six - a fact reflected by the distillery's use of six local botanicals including sakura leaf and flower, sencha and gyokuro tea, sansho pepper and yuzu peel.
Cherry blossom and yuzu provides a citrussy and floral aroma. To taste, there's a classic gin base plus characteristic Japanese botanical notes such as yuzu upfront and sansho pepper that brings a little spiciness to the finish. Serve with soda.
Four distinct types of pot stills are used to separately distil each of the 14 botanicals in order to best extract the best flavour and maintain their individual characteristics. The distillates are then blended together to create the final gin.
