The Balvenie 17yo Doublewood Single Malt

70cl | 43% ABV | Scotland

The Balvenie 17 yo DoubleWood is matured in two different wood types, similar to its younger 12 yo sibling. Sharing honeyed, spicy characteristics, it’s distinctly different with deeper vanilla notes, hints of creamy toffee.

To create this expression, the whisky is matured in American oak barrels, imparting soft sweet vanilla notes. It’s then transferred to European oak sherry casks, the maturing adds rich spicy flavours, depth and fullness of flavour.

About this product

The Balvenie 17yr is spicier than its famous 12yr sibling and more character but there's a clear familiarity between the two. Easy sipping, classic Speyside Scotch. A really nice one to gift as it pleases everyone from newbies to serious drammers.

The iconic David C. Stewart MBE started his career at the distillery in 1962 as a whisky stocks clerk, he became Malt Master in 1974. He's renowned for his ground breaking work, notably around ‘cask finishes’ and multiple award winning whiskies.

The Balvenie distillery has been handcrafting whisky in Speyside since 1892. It’s the only distillery in Scotland that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both a coppersmith plus team of coopers on site.
