The Balvenie The Week of Peat Whisky

70cl | 48.3% ABV | Scotland

A delicious contradiction of a whisky. It’s clear that it’s The Balvenie – as opposed to an Islay peat – with that honey, vanilla, citrus flavour but with an extra layer of delicate smokiness.

Gentle sweet peat smoke and lighter floral notes on the nose. To taste, velvety mouthfeel carries peat smoke balancing citrus flavours, oaky vanilla and blossom honey. Gentle smoke lingers on the finish with a creamy vanilla sweetness.

About this product

In 2002 The Balvenie decided to bring peat back. For one week a year, they distil a batch of peated malt, resulting in a whisky rich in honey, vanilla and citrus notes with an extra layer of delicate smokiness.

The iconic David C. Stewart MBE started his career at the distillery in 1962 as a whisky stocks clerk, he became Malt Master in 1974. He's renowned for his ground breaking work, notably around ‘cask finishes’ and multiple award winning whiskies.

The Balvenie distillery has been handcrafting whisky in Speyside since 1892. It’s the only distillery in Scotland that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both a coppersmith plus team of coopers on site.
