The aroma is reminiscent of smoking embers on an open beach fire with a generous pinch of sea salt. To taste, there's soft warm spices and vibrant citrus with recuring smokiness.
The Glenturret's 10 Year Old Peat Smoked edition brings together the two-spirit styles of the distillery, matured in both first fill and second fill European and American oak casks.
Originally owned by Sir Patrick Murray of Ochtertyre, The Glenturret Distillery has a long history and is even mentioned in the purchase records of the Barony of Ochtertyre as far back as 1763.
The distillery is still on the edge of the historic town of Crieff. Known locally as ‘The Hosh’ (Gaelic for ‘the foot’) – it is a picturesque and secluded setting at the foot of green rolling hills in the lower glen overlooking the river Turret.
