ZECA de Matos Cachaça is a wonderful expression of an exceptional Minas Gerais Cachaça. Great on the rocks with a lemon peel or, for when the time calls, to make a Caipirinha.

This spirit has notes of caramelised tropical fruit (banana and exotic fruit), brown sugar, vanilla and with a lingering white pepper spice. The tropical nature of the profile gives the impression of being slightly sweeter than other cachaças.

About this product

To make this cachaça cane sugar is hand harvested, fermented and then distilled in copper alembic stills. It is then matured for one year in large Brazilian mahogany containers.

ZECA de Matos is a fourth-generation family business which moved from Portugal to the south-east of Brazil in 1891, where they have their own sugar cane plantation in the Minas Gerais region.

This is a single estate cachaça. Amusingly, their estate is frequented by a characterful anteater who helps reduce the number of insects around, a fact that didn't go under appreciated and is the reason why an anteater is depicted on their bottles!
