Lagavulin 16 Year Old Single Malt is a complex rich, peaty character – a usual trait of southern Islay. Dry peat smoke fills the palate with a gentle but strong sweetness, coastal flavours are evident in the long peat filled finish.

One of the iconic Scotches and an unbelievable expression. The finish is what makes it so memorable - figs, dates, peat smoke, vanilla - it's got it all.

About this product

Dried over a peat and gas fire, Lagavulin’s unique barley-drying process means that it’s exposed up to twenty times more peat smoke compared to other Scotches. This and its lengthy aging time contribute to a powerfully peaty spirit.

Following many illicit years of distilling (as far back as 1742), in 1816 John Johnson, a local framer, established the first legal distilling operations in Lagavulin Bay in sight of Dunyvaig Castle.

The Lagavulin distillery is located on the banks of Lagavulin Bay on the island of Islay, Scotland.
