Fruity, spicy, oaky aromas emerge first. To taste it's slightly spicy, with tones of red berries, blossom, pear fudge and white pepper. Overall it's got a light oily texture and is medium-bodied. One to enjoy over ice.
Process
Following a tour at Mackmyra’s main storage in Bodås, Efva handpicked 19 casks (mainly Oloroso, American oak and ex-Bourbon barrels, a majority of which had been saturated with Swedish birch tree sap wine).
People
The Mackmyra Distillery was co-founded by eight friends who conceived the idea whilst in a mountain cabin on a ski trip in 1998. In the years since they have become the best known name in Scandinavian distilling, renowned for their innovation.
Place
The distillery, forest warehouse and visitor centre with restaurant is located 100 miles north of the city of Stockholm, outside the town of Gävle. The team have additional warehouses in Sweden and in Germany.
