You do indeed pick up the dairy on the nose!... But to taste, Black Cow Vodka is clean with a touch of creamy vanilla and a slight mineral-like touch and a black pepper and spirted finish. Try this with tonic and a lemon wedge.
Milk is separated into curds and whey. The whey is fermented into a mash (milk beer) which is distilled in batches using a copper still with an 11-plate column. It is then filtered and bottled in batches of less than 500 bottles per batch.
Black Cow was created by dairy farmer Jason Barber (who would have been the sixth generation of farmers in his family) as a way diversifying income from his 250 strong dairy herd.
