In 1827, Jean Baptiste Lapostolle, a distiller of fine fruit liqueurs, built what would become Grand Marnier’s first distillery in Neauphle-le-Château, a small city outside of Paris. Today it is owned by Gruppo Campari. Grand Marnier's home is nestled at the border of the Petite and Grande Champagne regions of Cognac. Originally built as a castle in the 13th century, the Château de Bourg-Charente is one of the most picturesque distilleries in the world.
