Though it doesn’t distil on sight, Little Bird Gin has a bar in Matby Street Market, Bermondsey, that is well worth a visit, with a cracking cocktail menu and a warm, welcoming vibe. Thames Distillers, based in South London, is a contract distillery responsible for creating so many of today’s gins. Distiller Charles Maxwell is a dab hand, able to perfect a gin within a couple of tries. If he’s made it, it’s good.
