Fresh acidity lifts an inviting nose of stone fruit and gentle oak. The taste builds on this with rich fruit and layers of butterscotch and toffee. The wine cask influence becomes more evident with water, adding in a complex mélange of fruit.
Optic Barley. Cask No. 474, a 2nd fill Ex-Pauillac (matured in cask full term). Laid to rest on 22nd March 2010. Disgorged & bottled 31st January 2022. 264 bottles. Bottled at cask strength of 62.6% ABV, non-chill filtered, no colouring.
Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, Bruichladdich is one of the iconic Islay distilleries. It produces three unique single malts: The unpeated Bruichladdich, the deliciously peaty Port Charlotte and the bomb fire in a glass, Octomore.
The Bruichladdich distillery is located on the south western tip of the remote Hebridean island of Islay.
A fresh marine salt-citrus tang is the signature accent of The Classic Laddie, its Hebridean island home greatly impacts the development of this single malt.
