Goslings Black Seal is blended in Bermuda from three different, imported, triple pot distilled rums that have been aged for 3 to 6 years in re-charred American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Some molasses added to help ensure colour consistency.
The history of Black Seal Rum and the Gosling family began in 1806. James Gosling, the eldest son of William Gosling, wine and spirits merchant, set out from England on the ship, Mercury, with £10,000 of merchandise, bound for America.
Generations of Goslings have been blending rum in Bermuda since the mid 19th century. The raw materials including the rum distillates come from Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad.
Goslings Black Seal Overproof 151 Rum is as high proof as Rum can get. The name even refers to it (75.5% ABV is 151 Proof). Go easy here folks.
