Made from 90% Canadian rye grains and 10% malted barley, after distillation the whisky is aged in high quality new American Oak casks which impart deep oaky intensity.
Lot 40’s Master Blender Dr Don Livermore certainly knows his stuff, not only does he have a Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, he also has an MS and Ph.D in Brewing and Distilling from Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University.
Lot 40 Rye is made at Hiram Walker Distillery in in Windsor, Ontario, one of the largest producers of spirits in North America.
Lot 40 Dark Oak gets its name from its unusual dual maturation, which begins in lightly charred barrels before being transferred to heavily charred American oak barrels for finishing.
