Made entirely with apples from Somerset, Cider Brandy 10 Year Old is a sophisticated spirit and a great brandy to consider for those seeking a British alternative to Calvados.

With such a long time spent maturing in oak, the fruitiness of the apple gains complex dried fruit notes (reminiscent of a Christmas pudding). There's a lovely richness too, full of subtleties.

About this product

Distilling takes place in an old copper still over the winter months. It takes around eleven litres of cider to make just one litre of spirit. Once made it is then rested in a variety of casks.

For thirty years Julian Temperley has been reviving the ancient art of Cider Brandy production in the UK. In 1989, his pioneering spirit led to HM customs granting the UK’s first ever full cider distilling license.

The Somerset Cider Brandy distillery sits within 180 acres of orchards at the base of Burrow Hill, Somerset. The farm has been pressing cider there for over 200 years. Each bottle can be traced back to its source orchard.

I have had the bottle for a few months. Open and tried it with friends yesterday for the first time. It is was an impressively nice drink ( one of our friends liked to to much LOL) This is indeed a good challenger to calvados -
