You still have huge amounts of peach and honey sweetness and spiced vanilla edge, but the added ABV gives a touch of candied orange, caramel almonds and a cassia-like heat on the finish.
A signature blend of whiskey, fruits and spices back crafted over 140 years. It was originally named Cuffs & Buttons in the 1870's believed to be a reference to the ingredients used for the infusion — citrus peel (cuffs) and cloves (buttons).
Southern Comfort was first produced by bartender Martin Wilkes Heron (1850–1920), the son of a boat-builder, in 1874 at McCauley's Tavern in the Lower Garden District, two miles south of the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana
Southern Comfort is owned and bottled by the Sazerac Company, Louisville (the parent company behind whiskey giants Buffalo trace), who in 2017 changed the recipe to restore whiskey as the base spirit, as per the original formula used.
