Hakushu is straight from the untouched forests, crisp waters and mountains of the Southern Japanese Alps. The water used in the whisky is sourced from the Ojira River and Jingu River it’s beautifully soft and pure due to granite rock filtration.
Suntory’s Hakushu Distillery was founded by Keizo Saji in 1973, half a century after his father and Suntory’s founder Shinjiro Torii established Japan’s first and oldest malt whisky distillery named Yamazaki.
Hakushu Distillery is one of the highest distilleries in the world, built amidst the deepest forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Southern Alps. In its surroundings there’s an abundance of plant varieties, a microclimate & pure water source.
