Bright citrus & floral overtones, vanilla, subtle oak, nutmeg on the nose. To taste, buttery caramel, hints coconut, toasted caramel and marzipan.
The Real McCoy 3yr is a blend of Bajan column and pot still rums, aged 3 years in re-charred ex-bourbon barrels. It is then filtered through a charcoal filter prior to bottling, removing most of the colour.
The Real McCoy was founded by Bailey Pryor, who came up with the idea to make rum while producing a PBS documentary film about Bill McCoy. The rum is made by Richard Seale, a 4th generation Master Distiller at his family-owned Foursquare Distillery.
The story of McCoy is a legendary part of the Prohibition era. In 2013, Pryor and Seale developed a classic Barbados style rum, adhering to McCoy’s 1920s strict regimen of never adulterating the rum with added sugars, flavours or perfumes.
