Wray and Nephew Overproof Rum

70cl | 63% ABV | Jamaica

in stock

IWSC 2023 Gold Wray & Nephew has been Jamaica’s most loved rum for nearly 200 years, for good reason. An intrinsic part of Jamaican culture, Wray & Nephew is a must in any cocktail cabinet. Won a Gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2023.

At 63% ABV, it's worth pointing out that you should go easy here, but potency aside there's notes of pineapple and banana. A versatile and flavourful white rum that is full of character - great for cocktails.

About this product

It is produced at the Appleton estate, from a combination of both pot and column distillations based off a 30 hour fermentation of sugarcane molasses.

Founded by Charles John Wray, Wray & Nephew is the oldest distiller in Jamaica. He settled in the country in the early 1800s and first blended rums at his tavern in Kingston, in the 1820's. Today it is part of Gruppo Campari.

Wray & Nephew is one of the world's best selling high strength and a name (and rum) weaved into Jamaican drinking culture. It still accounts for the majority of all rum consumed in the country.

Your review has some things a bit wrong. John Wray and Charles Ward are two different people. John Wray started the company and brought in his nephew Charles. Hints the name. It’s also made at New Yarmouth distillery in Clarendon not Appleton.
