Auchentoshan American Oak Single Malt has a bright golden colour with vibrant notes of vanilla, spice, coconut and rich toffee.
Scotch whisky is traditionally distilled twice, yet Auchentoshan triple distil - through a wash still, an intermediate still and lastly through a spirit still. The extra costly & timely step is the intermediate still, most distilleries don’t do this.
Auchentoshan was established in the Dunbartonshire estate of Auchentoshan in 1823 by a man named Thorne, an engineer from Greenock. The name is pronounced as Aw-khen-tosh-an. Challenging to say, easy to drink!
The distillery is located next to the Kilpatrick Hills in Western Scotland and is fondly nicknamed "Glasgow's Distillery" due to its close proximity to the city.
Auchentoshan Three Wood Single Malt has been mellowed in three different cask types; American Bourbon then Spanish Oloroso Sherry, followed by Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks.
