This triple maturation process has no doubt made an impact on the flavour profile of this whisky. The result is a kaleidoscope of flavour layers and aromas – from oak and spices to nutty spicy notes to a caramel, maple sweet taste and fruity finish.
Auchentoshan was established in the Dunbartonshire estate of Auchentoshan in 1823 by a man named Thorne, an engineer from Greenock. The name is pronounced as Aw-khen-tosh-an. Challenging to say, easy to drink!
The distillery is located next to the Kilpatrick Hills in Western Scotland and is fondly nicknamed "Glasgow's Distillery" due to its close proximity to the city.
