The eaux-de-vie have been ageing in large part for up to 30 years in ancient oak casks. With a floral nose, and rich aromas of roasted nuts. XO well suited to the more discerning palate.
Aromas of leathery vanilla and stewed ripe fruits. To taste expect mouth filling flavours of drying oak tannins, tobacco, quince, orange marmalade, almond and kirsch. Long dry finish.
Wines are selected from the Bas-Armagnac and Ténarèze regions & distilled using two methods. The continuous distillation provides fruit and depth; the double distillation gives finesse and elegance. Each bottling is a blend of these Eau-de-Vies.
Founded by Pierre Etienne Janneau in 1851 at Condom in Armagnac, four generations of the Janneau family have followed, passing down the secret of Grand Armagnac from father to son.
Janneau Armagnac are based in Gascony, South-Western France, at the footstep of the Pyrenees mountains. The soil characteristics influence the styles of the eaux-de-vie: more fruity and delicate in Bas Armagnac, more full-bodied in Ténarèze.
Symbolic of the Janneau house style, the VSOP is a perfect blend of carefully selected eaux-de-vie, some matured for up to 20 years in new oak casks in our ancient cellars
