The Balvenie 12 yo DoubleWood Single Malt, gains its characteristics from being matured in two different wood types creating a balanced liquid of sweet fruit, sherry notes on the nose and nutty spice on the finish.

This expression is created by aging spirit for at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads. It’s then moved to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months.

The iconic David C. Stewart MBE started his career at the distillery in 1962 as a whisky stocks clerk, he became Malt Master in 1974. He's renowned for his ground breaking work, notably around ‘cask finishes’ and multiple award winning whiskies.
The Balvenie distillery has been handcrafting whisky in Speyside since 1892. It’s the only distillery in Scotland that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both a coppersmith plus team of coopers on site.
