Macallan 25 Year Old Sherry Oak is intensely rich; with flavours of citrus, dried fruits and wood smoke.
The hand-picked sherry seasoned oak casks enable the ‘new make’ spirit to evolve into a single malt which is full of flavour and character following 25 years of undisturbed maturing. The resulting whisky has a long finish and deep mahogany colour.
The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer & schoolteacher. Despite being one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed, whisky was made by farmers on their Speyside farms locally for centuries.
The Macallan distillery is located on a plateau above the river Spey in north-east Scotland, surrounding it is the 485 acre Easter Elchies Estate. The architecturally impressive, state-of-the-art distillery and visitor centre is a must see!
