Expect a rich profile dominated by caramel, vanilla and oak, with hints of allspice and caramelised citrus. The finish has loads of butterscotch and baking spice with a hint of leather. Nice neat, lovely in an Old Fashioned!
The 15 year enjoys a finishing period in Vermont oak barrels that have a custom toast and char profiles. Vermont Oak has more rings than the standard American oak used in whiskey barrels, and can impart significant flavours in short time frames.
In 2007 Master Distiller, Dave Pickerell and the team sourced stock of 10-year-old blending whisky, which kick started their journey. Since the team have gone on to make their own Whisky winning countless accolades and fans along the way.
WhistlePig distillery is located in a 150-year-old renovated dairy barn based in Shoreham, Vermont, USA. On the farm’s 500 acre estate, there are pigs, sheep, goats, bees and horses, but also 20 acres of maple trees which the team tap for syrup.
