Expect big oak notes on the nose, almost resinous, alongside nutmeg and walnut notes. More honey comes through to taste, before cinnamon and vanilla pods emerge and the sweet spice take over to finish.
HMS Formidable is made using a 45-plate Coffey still and aged in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. This molasses-based rum is then aged between 9 and 12 years and blended.
The range was inspired by the naval victory of Admiral George Rodney, who ensured British domination of the Caribbean after he defeated the French at Battle of the Saints in 1782. The rum is overseen by Head Blender, Deny Duplessis.
