Powerful and warming woody notes of dried fruits and mulled spices emerge on the nose. To taste, it is rich with glazed plum and toasted oak finishing on nutmeg and dried fruit that lingers beautifully.
Castarède VSOP is a blend of 30% Colombard, 20% Folle Blanche and 50% Ugni Blanc Armagnac, aged for at least around 20 years (some 10 years more than the XO tag requires).
The Castarède family was ennobled in 1818, and two decades later established their distillery in 1832 (a few years before France was equipped with a railway). Today Florence Castarède is the sixth generation at the helm of the family operations.
Castarède is the oldest trading House of Armagnac in France and owns one of the most important collections of Armagnac vintages. A French institution it was awarded "Living Heritage Company" status (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant).
