A great Raicilla for those looking to expand their Agave repertoire. Expect a vegetal nose packed with agave flavour to leads you into a sweet palate with nuance and complexity.
This Raicilla is made from Agave angustifolia harvested after seven years. The agave is roasted in an earthen oven and it is then distilled twice in a Filipino style still made from clay pots.
Both raw and smoky cooked agave notes rise above peppery undertones. To taste, the earthy aroma subsides to reveal candied fruit, sugar syrup and floral touches. The finish is soft and lingering.
Raicilla has been produced for over 500 years in the Mexican state of Jalisco, Mexico. La Venenosa Raicilla range was created by Chef Esteban Morales to bring these hidden jewels to the global market.
La Venenosa Raicilla Sur was produced by Maestro Tabernero Don Macario Partida in the village of Zapotitlan de Vadillo (in Jalisco) approximately 1,400 metres above sea level.
A handcrafted spirit made from 100% Salmiana a wild agave species that is massive in stature and foraged from its preferred high-altitude, adventurous terroir.
QuiQuiRiQui Matatlán is a classic “house style” mezcal. It has a smooth taste with distinct roasted agave flavours and a peppery finish that is characteristic with the Espadin agave.
"As an all-rounder, QuiQuiRiQui probably offers the best value for money in the UK. This mezcal has everything going for it: fruitiness, sweet cooked agave, smoke, vegetal notes and citrus. At 45% ABV the alcohol is able to carry lots of flavour."
A lesser seen combination of agave varieties are brought together in this Don Amado expression. The result is delicious and one to savour neat.
Named after the hummingbird, Picaflor Mezcal Wild captures a sense of the wild. Funky herbal notes, smokey and earthy - one to sip on.
