Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky is made from 100% malted barley but made in the same Coffey stills which produces Nikka’s Grain Whisky. This unique production method produces a whisky with aromas of coconut and orange marmalade with a soft zesty finish.

Fruity yet spicy whisky overall. Nikka's Coffey Malt matches robust and spicy notes in a rich tapestry of flavour. There's just enough citrus to offset the clove and warming winter spice too- a fantastic Japanese Whisky!

These impressive copper-pot stills are able to produce a whisky which is wonderfully complex and flavourful than some of the more modern column stills, due to its age and shape.

Masataka Taketsuru is the founder of Nikka Whisky. He enrolled at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, becoming the first Japanese ever to study the art of whisky-making. Later he returned to Japan and produced the country's first single malt whisky.

In 1934 Masataka opened the Nikka Whisky Co distillery in the town of Yoichi. Later, his second distillery was located in foggy glen surrounded by mountains and at a junction of two clean rivers, by coincidence the name of the river was Nikkawa.
