Caramel, toffee and spice greets the nose. Thick with molasses, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg to taste. There's a lingering spicy finish and overall, The Kraken is a rum that suits cola, ginger beer and a whole range of mixers.
The Kraken is a dark spiced rum based on rums distilled from molasses at the Angostura Distillery (in Trinidad) that have been aged between one and two years. This is then blended with spices, including cinnamon, ginger and cloves and sweetened.
Kraken is owned by US based company Proximo Spirits, and once the rums are sourced, produced by MPG who are headquartered in Atchison, Kansas (theirs also a historic facility in Lawrenceburg, Indiana).
According to the Norse sagas, the kraken dwells off the coasts of Norway and Greenland and terrorizes nearby sailors. It is thought to have originated from sightings of giant squids that grow to 13–15 meters in length.

I love Kraken 70 proof rum. I drink it straight from the bottle or mixed with a little agave. My favorite way to drink it is with a squeeze of lime, lemon and agave shook up with lots of ice. Delicious and refreshing. I am having a hard time finding the 70 proof and I want to know if it is being discontinued.
