A straw-like coloured liquid reveals aromas of cornbread and toasted corn. To taste, there's a full dose sweet corn perfectly balanced with toasted notes adding vanilla and caramel like backdrop. A great base for a twist on the Spritz.
Once harvested, grains undergo a complex roasting process (including being cooked with quicklime). Once ready, they ground and then fermented over 120 hours into a wort, which is distilled.
Nixta is made by Destilería Abasolo, who work directly with farmers located in the mountainous areas of the State of Mexico. They work without intermediaries to try and support farmers with direct financing.
Destilería Abasolo is located in Jilotepec at an altitude of 7,800 feet, making it one of the highest distilleries in the world. Located on a property originally used for planting and drying corn, they are passionate about field to bottle processes.
