St Germain Elderflower Liqueur is a floral liqueur made with fresh, hand-picked elderflowers and elaborated in the traditional French style, using a process that has existed for centuries.
There are up to 1000 flowers that go into making each bottle. Its captivating flavour amounts to being so much more than just elderflower. There are also notes of tropical fruits, peach, pear, citrus and a hint of honeysuckle.
First, fresh elderflowers are infused warm water for several hours. This is carefully decanted and filtered to remove its flowers and stems before being blended with eau-de-vie de vin (Chardonnay and Gamay), water, sugar and neutral grain spirit.
First launched by Robert Cooper in 2007 under the Cooper Spirits Co, St Germain became part of the Bacardi portfolio.
St Germain was first created in 2007 and named after St Germain-Des-Prés, an area of Paris influential in the Art Déco and Belle Époque movements of France. At first, all elderflowers also came from France.
